Video hosting YouTube announced the launch of the Shorts service, which is an analogue of the TikTok application. Residents of India will be the first to gain access to it. Previously, the release of such a service was announced by Instagram, which introduced similar functionality to Stories.
The fact that YouTube is experimenting with such a function first became known in April, notes NIX Solutions.
Shorts, similar to TikTok, lets you create 15-second videos to which you can add music. More than 100 thousand tracks are already available in the YouTube library, and the service continues to work on expanding this catalog.
Videos created in this way will appear on the main page of the service in the Shorts section.
When the new functionality will be launched in other countries, YouTube did not specify. Residents of India will be the first to gain access to it.
