NIX Solutions: US Officials Investigate Cyberattack on X

US officials have not yet identified who is responsible for the cyberattack on billionaire Elon Musk’s social network, X. A former Trump administration official familiar with the investigation told the Associated Press that the government is taking the attack seriously. However, no specific intelligence has been received regarding the possible perpetrators.

At the same time, Musk claimed on Fox Business Network’s Kudlow show that the cyberattack involved “IP addresses that originated in Ukraine.” He did not provide further details.

Claims and Contradictions

On March 11, online crypto-futurist Ed Krassenstein reported that the hacker group Dark Storm had claimed responsibility for the DDoS attack on X. However, he also denied Musk’s assertion that Ukrainian IP addresses were involved in the large-scale attack.

The disruption began on March 10, with Downdetector data showing a sharp rise in problem reports starting at 11:30 AM Kyiv time. Around half of the complaints from Ukrainian users were about the web version of the platform, while over a third concerned mobile applications. About 16% of users reported server connection issues.

After 12:00 PM Kyiv time, reports of problems decreased, and X began partially restoring functionality. However, the disruptions continued intermittently, affecting users both in Ukraine and abroad, notes NIX Solutions. Later, Musk confirmed that the platform had been targeted in a cyberattack.

The investigation is ongoing, and we’ll keep you updated as more details emerge.
