Meta Platforms, the owner of Threads, has announced “long-overdue improvements” to its social network, which competes with X. These updates include enhancements to the internal search engine and the introduction of a trending page.
New Search and Trending Features
Threads users will soon have access to advanced search options, allowing them to filter posts by date range or by a specific account. Additionally, a trending page is being tested in the US. This feature will highlight the most discussed topics on the platform, accompanied by AI-generated summaries of popular conversations. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, who oversaw Threads’ launch, confirmed that testing for these updates begins today.
Responding to Growing Competition
The new features come as Threads faces increasing competition from Bluesky, a decentralized platform gaining traction. To keep pace, Threads introduced tools for users managing multiple channels, enabling them to showcase all channels on their main page for easier navigation. This update mirrors similar features already available on Bluesky.
Meta also revealed plans to enhance recommendation algorithms, aiming to fill user feeds with more relevant content from followed accounts. These updates mark a step forward in improving user experience and engagement, notes NIXsolutions.
