NIX Solutions: Instagram’s New Profile Music Feature

A new feature on Instagram will allow users to add a song to their profile — similar to blogging platform Myspace in the early 2000s. Music added to a user’s profile appears in the bio area. The song will be displayed on the profile until the user deletes or replaces it. But unlike Myspace, songs won’t play automatically — people who view a profile with a song can play and pause the track.

Users can add a song by going to the Edit Profile section, where they can find and select a track from Instagram’s licensed music library. From there, users will be able to select a 30-second snippet of the song.

Collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter

Instagram is launching the feature in collaboration with pop star Sabrina Carpenter, whose track ‘Espresso’ was a hit this summer. Starting August 22nd, Carpenter’s official Instagram profile will feature a teaser for the never-before-heard song “Taste.” Instagram says the profile’s music feature is the only way to hear the song until it’s fully released.

Instagram is also adding some hidden features dedicated to Carpenter’s upcoming album Short n’ Sweet, adds NIX Solutions. Using certain keywords, such as “Sabrina” or the coffee cup emoji, will turn temporary messages in Notes light blue, and chat will feature Carpenter’s signature lipstick kiss theme.

We’ll keep you updated on any further developments or additional features related to this new Instagram profile music option. As the rollout progresses, users can expect to see more profiles showcasing their favorite tunes and artists taking advantage of this unique promotional opportunity.

The introduction of this feature marks a significant step in Instagram’s evolution, blending nostalgia with modern social media capabilities. It offers users a new way to express themselves through music and provides artists with an innovative platform to connect with their audience. As more users adopt this feature, it will be interesting to see how it impacts user engagement and interaction on the platform.

While the initial launch focuses on Sabrina Carpenter’s collaboration, it’s likely that Instagram will expand this feature to include more artists and exclusive content in the future. This could potentially transform artist profiles into mini-listening stations, giving fans a unique way to discover new music directly through the app.
