Instagram has expanded the capabilities of the “Notes” function – short status messages that disappear over time. These notes will now appear on posts in the main feed and on short videos in the Reels section.
Enhanced Note Capabilities
Instagram users can now leave “Notes” on Reels and Grid posts, which will appear directly on top of the main content in small “bubbles.” Like other Notes, these comments only appear for a limited period—they disappear after three days unless you manually delete them first. They are also partly private, allowing users to choose who sees them: users from the list of close friends or mutual subscribers. Additionally, users can tag other individuals in Notes on Reels videos and main posts, creating essentially hidden comments for a limited audience.
User Experience and Privacy
When users see “Notes” from others in Reels and posts, they appear as stickers on top of the content, offering a unique way to communicate privately on Instagram along with personal correspondence. While viewing partially private posts from friends on the platform can be helpful, some may be put off by the possibility that they won’t see everything others have posted. It is also possible that some Instagram users will abuse this function. However, no one is forced to use the new feature; “Notes” can be completely disabled in the settings, according to the administration of the social network, adds NIXSolutions.
“Notes” for posts and Reels have already started appearing for Instagram users around the world. We’ll keep you updated on any further changes to this feature.
