Dishes from TikTok viral videos can now be ordered and tasted – at least in the US, writes Dev. The service, called TikTok Kitchen, is preparing to launch in March 2022 with Virtual Dining Concepts, which specializes in delivery-only restaurants.
The orders will be delivered by the local Grubhub ready-to-eat food delivery service. Initially, about 300 kitchens will be opened, and by the end of next year their number is planned to increase to more than 1,000.
The menu will be based on the main gastronomic trends of TikTok. It will be updated every three months, but if a dish starts to gain popularity, it can also be added to the list.
The social network promises to share the proceeds with the creators of content that will be on the menu, and encourage talented chefs on the platform.
NIXSolutions notes that it is yet unclear how TikTok will establish the authorship of viral recipes, which may involve more than one person. It is also unknown how much the social network plans to earn from this and what share of sales will be distributed among the authors of the posts.
