Instagram has launched a new test in which the Shop tab is located in place of the Activity tab in the application.
In this section, users will be able to buy products from leading brands and bloggers. It is currently available through the Explore tab for a subset of US users, specifies SearchEngines.
The main change in the interface is a bag icon instead of a heart icon in the navigation menu at the bottom of the application.
As for the “Activity” tab, where information on likes, subscriptions and comments is displayed, in this test it is located next to the Instagram Direct icon above the news feed. You can also go to it from the profile.
The new test is being carried out worldwide, but on a limited scale. Based on the test results, Instagram will decide how to launch the Shop further. The chances are that the company will abandon the idea of replacing “Activity” with “Shop” unless it sees an increase in traffic and conversions as a result of this change.
“This is a small global test of the Instagram Shop tab announced in May. With this test, we want to evaluate how to launch it further,” the company explained.
NIX Solutions reminds that Instagram also expanded its Shopping service in June, which allows you to add product tags to images.
