Instagram has made the Guides feature available for users around the world, states VC. The feature helps to create step-by-step instructions. The social network has been testing Guides since May 2020 with a limited number of users. At that time, certain experts and creators worked on guidelines with advice on how to improve the quality of life. For example, taking care of yourself, staying in touch with others, and dealing with anxiety and grief during the pandemic.
Instructions will appear in a separate tab, NIX Solutions explains. They can be sent as a private message or posted in Stories. The post can be divided into several blocks and you can add text, photos, videos or links to your other posts to it.
During testing, users created guidelines on mental health and wellbeing. The company is now expanding the themes to include Products, Locations, and Publications.
Guides are for large content, and are more like blog posts, writes TechCrunch. The function will increase the time that users spend on Instagram. This way, they will not have to click on external links to find out, for example, the author’s biography.
