Last month, Platform X (formerly Twitter) CEO Elon Musk announced his intention to make xAI’s Grok AI bot available to the social network’s premium subscribers. Now it has become known that the chatbot has become available to X subscribers on the Premium tariff, but so far only in some countries.
Global Expansion of Grok AI
Last year, when xAI first announced the Grok bot, it made the algorithm available to X Premium+ subscribers, who pay $16 per month or $168 per year. Now, access to Grok is gradually being gained by Premium subscribers who pay $8 per month. Users can choose to interact with the AI bot in normal or humorous mode. One of the interesting innovations of the xAI chatbot is the ability to summarize news, which may be useful for some users.
Competition and Industry Dynamics
Musk likely wants more people to use Grok to compete with similar products from other companies, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Anthropic’s Claude. The billionaire has been openly critical of OpenAI in recent months, and in March even sued the company, arguing that OpenAI had “betrayed” its non-profit goals. In response, OpenAI filed a motion with the court asking to dismiss Musk’s lawsuit, and also published correspondence between the company and the owner of X, reminds NIXsolutions.
As Grok AI becomes available to more subscribers, the competition in the AI chatbot market intensifies. We’ll keep you updated on how these developments unfold.
